When wondering how to choose the right plastic surgeon for you, check out each surgeon’s background. Find out how long they have been in practice, what schooling they’ve had, what their clinic hours are, and what their availability is. Don’t be afraid to ask for references. Find out if the doctor is properly licensed and has a clean health care record. You can go online to research doctors’ backgrounds thoroughly. Make sure the plastic surgeon offers the services you need, such as rhinoplasty, abdominal surgery, aesthetic surgery, breast implants or reductions, chemical peel, cosmetic work, face lift, hand surgery, laser hair removal, reconstructive surgery on a cleft lip, tummy tuck procedure, silicon injection treatment, chin and cheek tuck, reconstructive work due to carpal tunnel or cancer, and work to the legs, thighs, arms and muscles. Once you have decided what kind of plastic surgeon you want, be sure to visit with a few doctors before committing. Assess the appearance of the office, making sure the building is well maintained and clean. Meet with several staff members and make note if they are timely and well groomed. Make sure the facility is clean as well, and staff members are courteous. Ask about costs of various services, whether you need reconstructive surgery due to cancer or carpal tunnel, or aesthetic surgery on your abdominal area or for breast implants. Inquire whether surgery is performed on the office or at a hospital. You want to choose a plastic surgeon you feel comfortable with, but you also want to feel comfortable and natural with other staff members such as nurses too. Inquire about costs and services. It’s important to make sure they take your insurance. If not, move on. Keep in mind the plastic surgeons’ hours, availability, education background and level of professionalism.
